So at this weeks Studio Open House I served the coolest treats and I thought I would share how to make them here. Its very simple, make a batch of pie dough, 3 cups flour, 1/2 tsp. salt, 2 sticks butter (cut into flour till pea size), ice water gently dribbled in and mixed until all sticks together. Ball, cut into quarters, chill in fridge while preparing apples. 6 apples, cut away four parts of the apple as close to the core as possible, thinly slice these into your petals. Lightly boil in a pot with about 3 inches of water or apple juice. With a slotted spoon remove as soon as they are flexible enough to roll, place into a bowl. Roll out a quarter of the pie dough into a 12 inch long rectangle, along the long edge set a row of overlapping apple slices that stick out just about a 1/4 inch from the dough, apple peal side out. Cut the pie dough about a 1/2 inch in from the apples on the inside and roll this long ribbon of pie dough and apples up like a cinnamon roll. Stick the end of the dough down so it doesn't want to unroll and place on a parchment lined baking sheet. Repeat till you have used all and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar. Bake in a 350 degree oven for about 20 minutes or until the center when pressed on feels firm.
We served ours with pink Hibiscus Tea but also can't wait till hot apple Cider season is here!
